CiteCore runs the audit against the site you name and returns the result with the evidence behind it. There is no call required before the audit runs, no software to install, and no obligation attached to receiving the report once it is finished.
CiteCore reads your five control files at their live URLs
robots.txt, llms.txt, llms-full.txt, sitemap.xml and the structured data your pages emit. Each is graded out of 20 for a Core AEO score out of 100. Any file CiteCore cannot reach leaves the calculation rather than scoring zero, and the report names which one and why.
CiteCore queries five AI engines with real questions
ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Grok are each sent a question a prospective customer would actually ask, and the answer each returns is recorded verbatim. The report shows which engines named your business and which did not.
You receive findings you can act on without a second conversation
Each finding names the file, the problem, and the change. Nothing in the report is a number a language model produced — scoring runs in code, so the same site always returns the same score and a change in that score means something changed on the site.
Agencies receive the same audit under their own brand
Partners deliver CiteCore's platform white-label. Their clients see the partner's logo, reports and portal. The scoring, the engine roster and the evidence rules are identical to what is described on this site.
Before you send it
- What CiteCore needs from you
- A domain. Nothing else is required to run the audit — no analytics access, no admin credentials, no code installed on the site. Everything CiteCore grades is served publicly, because everything an answer engine reads is served publicly. If a file is not reachable by an anonymous request, it is not reachable by a crawler either, and that is itself a finding.
- Whether the audit touches your site
- It reads, and nothing more. CiteCore fetches your control files and pages over plain HTTP the same way any crawler does. It does not drive a browser, execute anything on your infrastructure, submit forms, or write to your site in any way.
- What happens to a site CiteCore cannot reach
- The report says so, names the file, and reports what the request returned. It does not score an unreachable file as zero, because that number would describe a fetch failure while looking exactly like a quality judgement. If fewer than three of the five files are readable, no Core AEO score is published for that scan at all.
- Whether you need to be an agency
- No. CiteCore serves agencies delivering the platform white-label to their own clients, and businesses auditing their own site directly. The scan, the scoring rules and the engine roster are identical either way — the difference is whose brand appears on the report.
- What the audit will not tell you
- It will not forecast when citations will change. Re-crawl schedules belong to each engine and no vendor controls them, so CiteCore reports the answers the five engines actually returned rather than projecting the ones they might return later. It also will not produce a number from a language model: every figure in the report comes from a file that was read or an answer that was recorded.
- What a second audit adds
- Because scoring is deterministic, a second scan of an unchanged site returns the identical score — which is what makes any difference between two scans meaningful. A score that rises after you edit a file confirms the edit worked. A score that moves when you changed nothing means something moved underneath you, most often a host or CDN updating a managed robots.txt, and the report names the file so the cause is findable. Scoring formulas are versioned, so a report you received earlier keeps the score its own run produced and is never silently re-graded against a newer formula.
